Letter from the Chapter
Welcome Potential New Members,
My name is Clare O'Brien-Lambert and I am the Vice President of Membership for the Lambda chapter of Sigma Kappa. When I first came to Cal I did not think Greek life would be for me. All I knew about sororities was what I had seen in Legally Blonde and Sydney White. But as an out of state student coming to Cal with no friends or family in the area, I decided to give Fall Formal Recruitment a chance. The decision to join Sigma Kappa has been the best decision I have made at Cal. Sigma Kappa has surrounded with me positive, driven, intelligent, and hilarious women who have enriched my life immeasurably. My membership in Sigma Kappa has provided me with countless opportunities, both scholastically and professionally, and my older sisters have always offered invaluable guidance and advice. As cheesy as it sounds, joining Sigma Kappa has helped me find my home away from home.
Whether you have been planning on recruitment since the day you got accepted to Cal or you're still hesitant about the whole process, I highly encourage you to go Greek. Recruitment can be a trying and overwhelming process, but here at Cal, there is a place for everyone amongst the 13 Panhellenic chapters. Finding a home, as I have found in Sigma Kappa, is an invaluable experience that can shape your college career. Oh behalf of the entire Lambda chapter, I wish you the best in finding your home here in Berkeley.
