My name is Erin Dougherty and I am very honored to be serving as president for the Lambda chapter of Sigma Kappa. Since our chapter was founded in 1910, Sigma Kappa womxn have proven to be incredibly passionate, empathetic, strong, and brave. It brings me an immense amount of joy to be a part of this amazing sisterhood.
Coming into UC Berkeley, I had no idea what Greek Life was about or that I would be joining a sorority, but I am so, SO thankful I found myself in Sigma Kappa! Without this sorority I would not have connected with the invaluable support system I find myself in now. Yes, I found an incredible group of friends within SK, but it also connected me with the greater PHC and Cal communities in ways which I’m unsure I could’ve done myself.
The opportunities presented through membership are countless. A few of my favorite aspects include our Sigma Sundae’s Philanthropy event, Sisterhood retreats, Alumni Tea, and the leadership opportunities and academic support. Membership is truly what you make it! We encourage our sisters to be themselves unapologetically and this has created a truly unique and beautifully diverse sisterhood.
We love and support each other always. It’s amazing to have an alumna visit the house and listen to her share memories. Stories of mischief on the roof, dancing in the living room, how game day magic never changes, and that she still talks to her sisters every day.
If you are thinking of going through recruitment, or would simply like to know more about us, I welcome you to explore this website, our social media, and even reach out to us through email to learn more about our organization and sisterhood.
I wish you nothing but the best.
